Remember 1974?? That was the year of the oil embargo and the gasoline lines, when George Ariyoshi became the first Japanese-American Governor and Richard Nixon resigned his Presidency. During these historical times, history was also being made in a small kitchenette housing a counter and six stools in the old Nabarette Café in Waipahu where Elena and Theo Butuyan founded Elena’s Restaurant. The Butuyan Family immigrated from Dagupan City, Pangasinan, Philippines in 1969 to the Island of Oahu. The Sugar Plantation town of Waipahu, Hawaii is where Elena's Home of Finest Filipino opened its doors for business. Under the entrepreneurship of Elena and Theo Butuyan, Elena’s Restaurant in Waipahu expanded its operations to 3 lunch trucks, Food Truck Rallys, Caterings, Expos and Craft fairs. Known for its Trademarked Original Fried Rice Omelet, Popular Pork Adobo Fried Rice OmeletTM, and Sari-Sari, Elena’s is truly the “Home of the Finest Filipino Foods”. Elena’s Restaurant has won many accolades and the prestigious ILIMA Award for the “Fifth” time as the Best Filipino Restaurant in Hawaii. Best of the Best Filipino Restaurant, 2005, 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009 & 2010 and Hawaii’s Best Filipino Restaurant 2006 & 2008. Hale Aina Award 2011. In 2002, Theo and Elena retired and knew right away that Las Vegas was their final destination to enjoy their golden years. After many years in business, competition, and demographics, Elena's has withstood the test of time and is currently operated by the second generation of the Butuyan family. After many requests and pleads to open a location in Las Vegas -Elena's Las Vegas opened on 08/08/08. Just minutes off the Strip, Elena's is located at the Francisco Center (Northest Corner), 2534 E Desert Inn Road, Las Vegas, (702) 791-7912. Elena’s home style Filipino dishes are now available to the hungry Kama'ainas locals of the 9th island. Serving Hawaii since 1974!
